Smile Evaluations

The best approach to determining the cost for your smile makeover is to schedule an initial appointment that will include computerized cosmetic imaging and a smile analysis. In this visit, we can meet each other and discuss your concerns and desired smile improvements. We will also provide an overview of how we might be able to help you reach the dental goals you feel are important. After we perform an examination, we will be able to discuss the specific treatment plan of action and the specific cost of the smile makeover that we have prepared especially for you. We'll also tell you about our no-money-up-front financing plan that we offer to all qualified patients. This makes getting a gorgeous smile more affordable than ever before!

There are a number of ways to analyze your smile. We regularly use two different approaches - the emotional evaluation and the objective analysis. Below is a simple list of questions using each approach that you can do on your own in the convenience of your own home.

The Emotional Smile Evaluation

The emotional smile evaluation is based on each individual's subjective perceptions of his or her smile. The questions below are designed to help reveal a person's inner feelings about how their smile affects their self image, how it impacts interactions with others, and how it influences the quality of their relationships.

Do you love the appearance of your teeth and smile?

  1. Do you ever turn your face when smiling or hold your hand up in front of your mouth when talking to others?
  2. Have you ever found yourself looking at models or other people with beautiful smiles and wishing you had a similar smile?
  3. Have you figured out a way to use your lips to cover any aspect of your smile?
  4. Are you embarrassed to visit a cosmetic dentist due to the condition of your teeth or the length of time since your last visit to a dentist?
  5. How does your smile make you feel? Confident?
  6. Do you shy away from showing a full smile in front of other people, especially strangers?
  7. When taking pictures, do you tend to smile with your lips closed instead of flashing a happy smile?
  8. Have you ever held back a laugh because you felt uncomfortable about your smile?
  9. How would a beautiful new smile make you feel?
  10. What would you like to change about your smile?

The Objective Smile Analysis

For the objective analysis, the best thing is for you to stand in front of a mirror mounted on a wall. Now, smile at yourself using your "normal" smile. Next, look at the mirror and think of a hilarious moment in your life and give a big, laughing smile. This big smile is probably a much larger smile than you feel comfortable using much of the time if you are not happy with your teeth. When your smile is improved, however, your big smile appears much more spontaneously because you look (and feel) great! So let's figure out what's holding your big smile back -- what it is that bothers you about your teeth.

Are all of your teeth brilliant white or are they somewhat yellow, dark, or stained?

  1. Are there spaces between any of your teeth?
  2. Are you missing any of your teeth?
  3. Do you have teeth that are crooked, uneven, or out of line?
  4. Do the biting edges of your upper teeth follow the curvature of your upper lip?
  5. Do any of your teeth appear short and fat or too small or too large?
  6. Are the edges of any of your teeth even with the rest of your teeth or are they too long or too short?
  7. Do your teeth (as a group) slant one way or another?
  8. Is the midline of your two front teeth centered with your face and nose?
  9. Are the edges of your canine teeth too long, sharp, or look out of line?
  10. Do you grind your teeth or are any of the biting edges on your teeth chipped or worn down?
  11. Do you have a "gummy" smile -- showing too much gum tissue or having gums that are too thick?
  12. Are your gums even and in line and symmetrical or irregularly shaped -- higher on some teeth and lower on others?
  13. Have your gums receded or do they appear red or puffy?
  14. Do you have any gray, black or silver (mercury) dental fillings in your teeth?
  15. Do you have any old crowns that have dark edges at the top or that don't really look natural?
If you answered yes to ANY of the above questions, we can help give you a better, more beautiful smile. Read on to learn more about our cosmetic dentistry treatments available to you.

Sometimes called aesthetic dentistry, cosmetic dentistry can be described as any one or more dental treatments that improve the beauty of your smile. And a beautiful, more alluring smile can be the beginning of a more successful lifestyle for you.

Cosmetic dentistry can include a variety of techniques, from re-contouring the teeth or gums to placing veneers on a number of teeth. Although many general dentists may claim to practice cosmetic dentistry, it is truly an art form taking years of training, education and experience not taught in regular dental schools to master. It is grounded in the healthy enhancement, restoration and maintenance of a customized smile makeover. To obtain optimal results, it requires the application of advanced scientific techniques, skills, materials, and high tech equipment.

Since patient comfort is a crucial part of our cosmetic dental treatments, our clinical staff and doctors go the extra mile to make a visit to a Dental Visits Center for Cosmetic Dentistry a whole new positive experience. Of course, we offer nitrous oxide, movies, music, and a number of unexpected amenities, but most importantly "good ol' TLC."

Below are some of the more common cosmetic procedures we routinely perform daily in our office.

VENEERS

Porcelain laminate veneers are literally a "shell covering" placed over the teeth to enhance or correct their appearance. Whether to close spaces, increase size, change color or straighten the teeth, veneers are one of the most exciting procedures we provide.

CROWNS

Dental crowns are used to restore both anterior and posterior teeth that have been broken or are at high risk of doing so due to old, over-sized fillings or fractures. There are a variety of materials used to construct these, and by working with the finest laboratories in the country, we are pleased to produce crowns that look and feel like your real teeth.

BRIDGES

Dental bridges are fixed or non-removable prosthesis that are constructed to replace one or more missing teeth. The teeth on either side of the existing space are used to anchor the bridge to restore functionality as well as aesthetics. We are now able to construct beautiful porcelain over metal as well as full porcelain and resin-based bridges to produce the best results for each particular situation.

TOOTH-COLORED FILLINGS

Today's dentistry has allowed us the pleasure of combining beauty as well as strength when filling teeth. This may include removing old amalgam fillings (sometimes called silver or mercury fillings) that have darkened and become ugly over time. We take pride in "restoring" teeth to as close to their original strength, but with dramatically improved appearances using composite resins and ceramics.

TEETH WHITENING

Bleaching teeth can be one of the easiest, yet, most gratifying procedures we perform for patients in our office. We are pleased to offer different choices for whitening procedures, which are customized for each person’s wants and needs. From home bleaching to accelerated in-office whitening, patients are enjoying whiter and brighter smiles achieved in a very short amount of time.

BONDING

Composite resin bonding is used to repair fractures as well as to laminate (or cover) teeth to enhance appearance. These procedures are usually accomplished in one appointment and with little or no discomfort! We are proud to produce some of the most beautiful smiles in the country through our extensive experience.

GINGIVAL SCULPTING

Uneven gums can play tricks on a smile, like making teeth look slanted, or unusually large or unusually shaped. We can correct a "gummy smile" by sculpting them to better frame your teeth the way nature intended them to look.

TOOTH CONTOURING

This treatment is ideal for those who are happy with the color of their teeth, but don't like the exact shapes of their teeth because of small chips or slight crowding.

POST & CORE

Sometimes, due to decay, fractures, or a number of other reasons, a tooth may be damaged to the extent that the root is damaged and the portion of the teeth showing above the gum line is either not present or not sufficient to support a restoration like a crown on its own. That's where a post and core come in.
