When bonding is used as a cosmetic treatment, it is called instant orthodontics. The name comes from the fact that nothing is actually “fixed” but made to have a better overall appearance. Cosmetic bonding is used most in cases involving crowded, chipped, and even gapped teeth. The process uses an application of a special composite resin colored to match your teeth. It gives the allusion of straight teeth and is one of the most economic choices for patients. Despite the constant vigilance against staining them, cosmetic bonding is virtually carefree. Dental follow-up visits are needed only for occasional polishing.
